Production residency

Naked Island Artist Residency welcomes residents within the field of visual art, crafts and design to spend productive time in 1-4 month-long production residency in Tallinn, Estonia. Artists with the aim to develop and produce an artwork, a collection of craft objects or prototypes for display are preferred. Residents have unlimited access to wood and metal workshop, their stay includes technological mentoring from professionals and ends with public display, workshop or artist talk.

Our facilities

The residents have a small studio space and open, 24/7 access to production facilities (wood workshop, metal workshop, open air working area) and access (Mon–Fri 9–17) to casting workshop, colouring chamber, sand blaster, CNC-milling complex, 3D-printer, ceramic kilning. Residents have a possibility to consult their projects with professionals (master of woodwork, certified welder, master of metal casting work and mould-making, professional product designer) and get support in technical and curatorial issues related to their project. The residency host provides relevant contacts and networking opportunities with Estonian art institutions, designers, craft organisations.

Naked Island Artist Residency gives the best opportunity to work with materials and technologies, to discuss the technical and aesthetic issues with experienced mentors and produce the work in final material. Our aim is to support residents’ professional activities and therefore to enable them to participate in art/craft/design world and market with their oeuvre.

Fee for a one-month-long residency is 1320€ (1100+20% VAT) which includes a separate studio space, all related utilities, 24/7 access to wood and metal workshop, access to other facilities (colouring chamber, sand blaster, casting facilities) during working hours, and 4 hours of consulting by our technicians and mentors.
